Our Essential Beliefs

1. God:   We believe in one God, Creator of all things, Who is personal, perfect, and eternally existing in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We are commanded to worship this God alone.
Gen 1:1; Exodus 20:1-6; Matthew 28:19-20

2. Jesus Christ:   Jesus Christ is completely God and completely man. We believe that by the miracle of the virgin birth, Jesus Christ, eternal Son of God, became Man without ceasing to be God. He lived a sinless life. He came to reveal God and restore man to God by dying on the cross for our sin. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven, reigns supremely, and will come again someday.
Luke 2, John 14:6, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

3. The Holy Spirit:   We believe that the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He convicts unbelievers of sin, and provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, comfort, and guidance in doing what is right.
John 14:16-17, 16:7-13; 2 Corinthians 3:17

4. The Bible:   The Bible is our standard for all of life, practice and ministry. We believe the Bible is God's word, the supreme source of truth. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it is inspired by God, it is absolute truth without mixture of error. We believe that God's Word is completely sufficient for the leadership, doctrines, methods, and ministries of the church.
2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21

5. Mankind:   We believe people were created in the image of God to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God's creation. All of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin." This attitude separates us from God and causes many problems in life. We are sinners by nature and by actions.
Gen 1:2; Rom 3:23

6. Salvation:   Salvation is offered to man through the gospel of Jesus Christ. The term "salvation" means one is saved from the wrath of God and eternal punishment in hell by Jesus Christ. His death on the cross paid the price to satisfy God's wrath. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to His glory alone. When we respond to the Holy Spirit's conviction, turn from our sin and to Jesus in faith, confessing that He is Lord, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his or her life by faith.
Jn 3:16, 6:44, 10:28, 17:3; Rom 8:1, 10:9-10

7. The Christian Lifestyle:   We believe that a Christian is to walk within scriptural boundaries but also has freedom within those boundaries. Discipleship and maturity are evidenced when believers live basing their lives and lifestyles on the Bible, seeking first the kingdom of God. We trust God to convict, empower, and lead believers by the Holy Spirit through the Word and prayer to live a life pleasing to God. That life will lead to obedience.
Matthew 6:33; Romans 14:1-6; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 4:22-24; Colossians 3:1-5

8. Baptism:   We believe Baptism (by immersion) is one of the ordinances Christ left for the church. It is an outward sign of an inward reality demonstrating one's faith in God the Father, one's acceptance of Jesus Christ the Son, and one's recognition of the living presence of the Holy Spirit in them. It is a public testimony to your faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism has no saving value, but is sanctifying in obedience to Christ and is our public profession of faith in Christ.
Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38, 41; Romans 10:1 Corinthians 1:17

9. The Lord's Supper:   We believe that communion or the Lord's Supper is one of the ordinances Christ left for the church. Jesus told us to remember Him through sharing the bread (representing His body given for us) and the cup (representing His shed blood). It is an outward symbol pointing to our present healthy relationship with Christ, and His covenant with us. The Lord's Supper has no saving value, but is sanctifying in obedience to Christ.
Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-36

10. The Church:   We believe that the church is the visible and invisible body of Christ where the right preaching of the Word of God happens and the right administration of the ordinances take place. The local church is made up of Christ-followers who have repented of their sins, who believe in and follow Jesus Christ, and have publicly acknowledged that faith through baptism. The church is to be led by a plurality of biblically qualified male pastors (elders) under the headship of Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:17-22, 1Timothy 3:1-8
